Off the coast of Stradbroke Island in Australia, a great white shark was killed by one of its own kind.
The monster shark was estimated to be the species maximum size of twenty feet. The victim, a ten foot pointer, was caught on a drum line close to shore.
The controversial aquatic trap, that is used to minimize shark attacks at popular beaches, captured the smaller shark on a hook attached to a floating buoy and inhibited the shark from defending itself against the larger beast.
The local fisheries patrol found the dead shark with enormous bite marks leaving the carcass almost ripped in half.
It was located only thirty minutes away from where a woman was killed by a shark in 2006 and residents of a nearby beach felt frightened of the lurking threat. Beach goers were force to take extra caution in the water to keep an eye out for the perpetrator. Surfers felt nerve wracked, but still undeterred by the common hazard.
